Stephanie Teuber is a junior political science major and religious studies double major at UC Santa Barbara. She was one of ten students selected for the Sara Miller-McCune Endowed Internship and Public Service Program offered through the Walter H. Capps Center at UCSB. In this program students spend the academic year learning about the role of non-profit groups in government and the community in both seminars and hands-on internship experiences.
Last year Stephanie spent a week volunteering with Teach for America in Mississippi, where she became extremely interested in education, specifically the role curriculum development plays. At TSEI Stephanie is assisting with the research and development of social studies curriculum that aligns with the Common Core State Standards, the California State Standards, and The FAIR Education Act (SB48).
Stephanie hopes to learn more about the process of curriculum development during her internship, as well as how the role of policy is shaping education.
